MOZAMBIQUE INDEPENDENCE

Mozambique is a country located in Southeast Cost of Africa, bordering the Mozambique Channel, between South Africa and Tanzania, (see the map above painted in red).
Mozambique was a Portuguese colony from 1505 to 1975, around 470 years being ruled by the Portuguese and subjected to humiliation and oppression. For several times, the Mozambican people claimed the right to have their land under their control, but the answer of the Portuguese was always negative and mostly responding in a violence way and threatening them.
It came pass that the Mozambican people decided to challenge the Portuguese, hence, several anti-colonial political groups formed in 1962 the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (FRELIMO), which had its headquarters in Tanzania.
Dr. Alberto Chivambo Mondlane, was the President in charge of the anti-colonial political group, called FRELIMO, whereby all Mozambican youth people joined this group in order to set their country free from the Portuguese colonial rule.
On 25th of September,1964, 2 years later after the FRELIMO was formed, initiated an armed campaign against Portuguese colonial rule. After 10 years of bloodshed war, the Portuguese colonialism surrendered and decided to sign an agreement of ending the war, this ceremony was held in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia on 7th of September 1974.
On 25th of June 1975, Mozambique became independent country from the Portuguese colonial rule, this was a moment where all Mozambican people experienced a total freedom, and also it was a moment of challenge to start developing the nation which was ruined by the colonial rule for almost 5 centuries.
